Replacement laptop ac adater, amperage and polarity.?
I just bought a replacement ac adapter and all the specs are the same as the old one but it has a higher input amperage form 1.5A to 1.8A and I’m told this is ok.
But the other difference is the polarity, the old one had a positive polarity (- to +) and the new has a negative polarity (+ to -), will this still work or will it damage my laptop.
Any help would be much appreciated.

There’s a good chance that the reverse polarity will blow your laptop …
Take it back to the shop & swap it for one with the correct polarity … or one where the polarity can be changed.
If they refuse to take it back & you can’t afford to buy another, then you can swap the polarity by cutting the wires and changing them over (that’s the wire between the power block and the plug with the wrong polarity)…. if you have a friend with a soldering iron, better would be to cut off the old plug and fit a new one the ‘right’ way round (chances are Maplins will stock them).
