i have a worm in my laptop, how can i reformat it? it is a HP COMPAQ PRESARIO C700?
You don’t have to reformat your computer, since if your diagnostic is right, and you actually do have a worm then its ok to just remove the worm with antivirus. Worms are generally harmless (in regards to you and your personal information). All you need to do is get an antivirus program (there are some excellent free antivirus: AVG, AVAST, AVIRA) and it will most likely detect and remove the worm while keeping your computer safe from known attacks in the future.
However if you want to reformat, it can be done fairly easily. HP laptops (especially one as new as your’s) come with a recovery partition that will guide you along the process of reformatting. Simply restart your computer, and then at the screen where there is a big HP logo (first screen that you see when the computer starts up again) there should be some text at the bottom that tells you what to press to open the Recovery Console (F11 on most, might be different for you so double check) then you can just follow the steps to reformat. I am sure you know this already but a reformat is destructive and all the data you had will be lost (can be recovered by complex process).
